Casting off the fog of sleep I awaken.

I consciously decide to let go of any fear or apprehension on this day, instead, I choose to own the powerful energy of me.

I roll my shoulders back, align my spine, and steady my gaze. I look into the mirror and say the word “confidence” as I glaze my lips in raspberry.Β I feel solid.Β Grounded. Ready to beguile the world with my enthusiasm.

I glance at my messages. Everyone is saying different things to me butΒ I shift my view and let myself fall under the enchantment of deep violet starlight… a million stars on a midwinter’s morning; a million opportunities for wishes to come true.

If I believe in myself.

Standing motionless, I breathe, lost in the perfect peace of the moment which reminds me that I am in control of the ambiance of my existence by choosing what I see.

I watch the little girl across the street turn a cartwheel in her yard while waiting for the school bus. She claps when she finishes and I clap with her. Her face lights up with a smile.

I sing along with my playlist as I drive into the city, tapping along with the music while noticing the feel of the new gloves I am wearing that don’t slip on the wheel.

And the best part of the morning?

Catching the play of early sunlight, sparkling on the river like a carpet of shimmering, white diamonds.

  5. I sure wish I could greet morning as enthusiastically as you, but alas, I turn off my alarm, grumble, and put on my workout clothes. But once I get started moving and grooving, the joy of a new day hits in. Well…usually. Depends on how many burpees and push-ups I have to do first.

    • Thank you so much, Sheila! This particular morning did just that. I ran with the most beautiful sunrise and a temp of 50 degrees at 6:30. That’s really something for an Ohio morning in February! Thanks again – hope you have a lovely day. πŸ™‚
