In no particular order…
Doing it all is overrated. Doing some of it well and having time to sleep and be a person is the goal.
Whatever new skills I learn this year, I will add to; not replace, the skills I already have.
Life is never out to get you, it just wants to teach you.
Having an interest in any particular field or vocation is very different from enjoying the daily practice of it.
Don’t trust anyone who says it’s going to be okay because chances are it’s not.
Lots of people have impressive jobs but don’t do their jobs very well.
I always receive clarity and peace through my yoga practice when I can’t sleep.
There is no such thing as trying too hard.
There are many companies that project a positive image but when you look at their internal practices, that isn’t always true.
Dealing with uncertainty is a skill.
Dealing with teenagers is a skill.
Being in front of a computer for too long makes me crave fresh air.
People interpret the world through a lens of narratives they already know. But alternative narratives should never go unnoticed.
Writing a book is furr-eak-ing difficult.
Many things described as “complicated” can be summed up in one sentence.
It is always okay to care.
If you experience the same thing over and over again, there might be a lesson there that you missed.
Living with a sense of gratitude changes everything.
I live between my writing world and my “real world” job as a nurse. It’s not easy, but I love both things equally.
