Fugue State

Something there assails my mind from the early hours of the longest night.

It is intimate.
It is innocent in origin.
It is not mine to give and take.

In the depths of darkness I witness reprieve from the garish light of
every day and it warms me.

Over and over again I stay
in softer rays of winter sun.
